Air Self Defense Force Flag was re-adopted on 19 March 2001. The cobalt blue flag charged with gold winged eagle ASDF cap emblem in the center.

The Air Self Defense Force was created in 1954. The first known flag is shown in "Flags of All Nations" (1955) and is probably the one adopted when the Force was created.

On 30 September 1957 Air Self defense force adopted a new flag, slightly different from the one dated 1955.

The flag of the Air self defense force was adopted by decree 03 published in the official gazette on 14 March 1972. The ratio, according to the decree, is 1089:875.

The emblem is centered according decree, but the emblem is slightly towards the upper part. The image in the decree is drawn slightly towards the hoist (290 to hoist - 510 emblem - 290 to fly = 1089 total) and also real flag is shown that is centered where the emblem is width 510 and height 570.
